
Futures Gymnastics: Accessible Customer Service Policy
1. Purpose
Futures Gymnastics is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment for all customers, including those with disabilities. This policy ensures that all staff provide services in a manner that respects the dignity, independence, and accessibility rights of every individual, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, and contractors of Futures Gymnastics who interact with members, visitors, or the public.
Futures Gymnastics will ensure that our services:
Are accessible and inclusive to everyone.
Respect the independence of individuals with disabilities.
Communicate in a way that meets the needs of the person.
Respond promptly and effectively to feedback regarding accessibility.
Staff will communicate clearly and patiently with customers with disabilities, using plain language or alternative formats when needed.
Staff will ask how best to assist a customer, rather than assume what they need.
Information can be provided in large print, electronic format, or verbally upon request.
Customers may use their own assistive devices (e.g., wheelchairs, hearing aids, mobility aids) while accessing services.
Staff will offer assistance if requested, without taking over the device.
Clients that require the assistance of service animals will be permitted full access to our facility, unless otherwise excluded by law.
Customers support person clients with a disability that require a support person will both be permitted full access to our facility and will not be prevented from having access to their support person at any time. All client confidentiality requirements and practices will also apply to support persons
Participants with a disability will be charged the appropriate program fee. Their support person is not required to pay any additional fees, but may be required to pay the Gymnastics Ontario Insurance fee, if participating in more than 3 visits to our facility..
Staff will collaborate with the support person as needed to provide accessible service.
Facilities, including reception, washrooms, and gym areas, are designed to be accessible where possible.
Staff will assist in navigation if a customer experiences difficulty accessing a space.
Customers can provide feedback about accessibility in person, by phone, or email.
All feedback will be reviewed promptly, and actions taken to address concerns.
All staff and volunteers receive mandatory training on accessibility, AODA requirements, and customer service practices for persons with disabilities.
Training is updated whenever policies or legislation changes.
If a service, facility, or equipment becomes temporarily unavailable, staff will provide notice and alternative solutions whenever possible.
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure compliance with AODA and ongoing accessibility improvements.
